Vaughan October 24: Small & home based businesses and festivities were the focus of the successful South Asian Trade Festival held this week in Woodbridge. The fair was organized by Human Endeavour, a not for profit organization known for its services for seniors, new immigrants and their families.
2nd annual event was a part of New Horizon project which aims to help newcomers through entrepreneurship and self-employment options for alternate income sources. This project is a joint venture between Human Endeavour and COSTI and is funded by The Ontario Trillium Foundation.
More than 43 vendors set up their stalls displaying a variety of products ranging from Bollywood fashion products, saris, jewelry, hand-knitted & embroidered items to booths from real estate agents, RESP agents, yoga, hiring personnel etc. There were also display stalls of 10 non-profit organizations who wanted exposure and contacts with the community. Communities from Vaughan, Markham and Richmond Hill participated in this event.
Mayor of Vaughan, Linda Jackson, Regional Councilors Mario Ferri and Gino Rossetti, Councilor Bernie DiVona also visited the festival and attended the award ceremony. Human Endeavour presented awards to Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre and Ryerson University for Promoting small businesses and to three entrepreneur awards were given to Hanif Ahmed, Fatima Kazmi and Kailayar for their successful small business endeavors.
