Vaughan, ON, May 2, 2009: Human Endeavour along with its partners celebrates South Asian Heritage Day and Awards Ceremony every year in the month of May, which has been declared the Asian heritage month in Canada. Heritage Day is Human Endeavour’s most significant event as it shares the rich and diverse culture of South Asia and on that day the individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the South Asian community are recognized and honored.
Ontario Minister of Citizenship & Immigration Michael Chan presented the awards. Other dignitaries included MPP Helena Jaczek, Frank Scarpitti the Mayor of Markham, Council members of Vaughan and other community leaders.
Program was a great success and was attended by more than 600 members from diverse communities across GTA. Everyone enjoyed the awards ceremony, performance and food and an opportunity to know more about South Asian culture.
Community members who have small and home based businesses were given opportunity to set up their stalls to introduce and promote themselves.
Human Endeavour organized this event in partnership with Punjabi Community Health Services, Social Services Network, Seniors Enrichment Centre and Thornhill Senior Citizen's Club.
