Woodbridge, ON - October 4, 2006: Vaughan Inclusivity Program
Canada is a country with people of diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds and has given us the opportunity to live together in harmony and peace. Human Endeavour has been an active member to support and implement Inclusivity Action Plan in York Region. IAP is an initiative of York Regional Government and Human Services Planning Coalition (HSPC).
Vaughan, being the fastest growing cities in Canada has a large number of ethno-cultural community groups; as it has expanded immensely so have the issues of economic stability, safety and diverse neighborhoods. To promote racial harmony and tolerance among the communities within the City of Vaughan representatives from ten ethnic groups met in October 2006 to pledge their commitment to the promotion of diversity and equality.
Human Endeavour’s Noor Din with his commitment to inclusivity and diversity is among the co-founders of the Vaughan Inclusivity Program which aims to address the issues faced by the ethno-cultural groups within the City of Vaughan and assist in the creation of a truly diverse community. The objective of V.I.P is to ensure that the following occur: tolerance among the communities, community integration into the Canadian fabric, the delivery of accessible services, fair economic opportunities and finally, acknowledgement of the social needs faced by ethno-cultural groups.
Enza Barbieri-Soleti, co-founder of V.I.P. and a member of the Italian community was impressed with the enthusiasm and the interest displayed by those in attendance. There is a great sense of community with all the groups coming together, stated Barbieri-Soleti.
Co-founder of V.I.P. and Local and Regional Councillor Mario Ferri attended the founding meeting of the V.I.P. group to explore ways to address some emerging community needs. The demographics of Vaughan are changing everyday. To ensure that everyone feels apart of the community, we need to work together. Those candidates who support this initiative will have the opportunity to contribute to this enhanced social harmony, said Ferri.
